I know this topic has come up a million times and I did a search before I posted this and didnt find a clear answer.
I have a project I am working on now. All of my daytime footage was shot on 24P Advanced however all of my nighttime footage and its a lot was shot on normal 24P. I set my timeline up to remove the pulldown in 23.98. I have to render out all the night footage which is not a big deal before I can play it back.
The problem I am now noticing is that all the night b-roll has an unwanted strobe like effect to it when it plays. I only notice this when I watch it on an external monitor. On my Laptop screen, I can tell the footage needs to be de-interlaced but the strobey look is not present on the laptop. I can see the lines on shots with some sort of motion.
When I did my search here on DVXuser, I came across a thread that someone said to use Cinema Tools to correct the problem of mixing 24p and 24PA footage in the same timeline. Being as though I have never used Cinema Tools, how do I use it to get the results I want?
Also since I am still shooting with the original DVX100 camera, I have to use that offset tool to keep my audio in sync. I havent shot on 24PA in such a long while that I havent used that tool in a long time. Do I select all clips in timeline then click on that tool to fix anything that might be out of wack? I can't remember! LOL!
