24p advanced capture at the end of a tape

So I read the sticky and I understand.
I'm editing on FCP 5.14

My question is:
I'm capturing 24pa footage using the advanced pulldown. And it's going fine for most clips. However at the end of the tape if I don't stop the capture before the end of the tape it logs the clip as 29.97 and then the entire clip needs rendering in my 24p timeline.

If I'm careful and capture the same clip again and stop before the end of the tape it's fine. It's not really a problem, I was just curious as to why it does this.

24pA cadence is TRICKY. If FCP isn't reading it PERFECTLY it will have issues.

Now... what you could have done is to try and remove the cadence afterward with TOOLS - Remove Advanced Cadence.

But yes... best to

1) Never review your tape while shooting
2) Never turn off the camera WHILE it is recording
3) Never switch 'modes' mid tape.

All those will disrupt the cadence on the tape and cause ISSUES on capture.
