24P Advanced & 29.97 On One Timeline?

I know how to import and edit with 24PA footage, and I know how to use 29.97 footage...my problem is soon going to be that I am going to be incorporating 24PA footage shot on the DVX, and standard Mini-DV footage into the same project, and the same timeline. Can anyone please suggest the best way to go about that?

Obviously, I would like to keep the 24PA footage the way that it is, and the 29.97 is just filler video anyway, so I don't care that much about the look of it.

Thanks for any help you can give,
Lanz

I would put the 29.97 footage on a separate timeline to start and try converting it to 24fps see if you can come up with a reasonable result. Then import. But in case you havent, makes sure you read Noahs post at the top regarding 24pa footage, thank god it was the first thing I read when I installed FCP 4 weeks ago.

Well you would take the 29.97 (24p) video and run it through Cinema Tools and reverse telecine it to 23.98 and then edit everything on a 23.98 sequence.

Thanks to both of you. I'll try and export the 29.97 as 24 and see how that works, since I don't have Cinema Tools.

Can anyone confirm that this is the best way to do this?

Thanks.

No you need cinema tools if you have FCP you have cinema tools, It is not exporting but taking off the 3:2 cadence the camera put on the footage and reconforming it to 23.98 (24) if you just export I think you will get somthing kind of funky looking
