24p (23.98) to PAL

i think this is a fairly basic question, but i can't seem to figure it out nor find many answers on the forums.

i have a 12 minute short shot and edited NTSC 24p (23.98) and burned to dvd as such (relying on the dvd to do the 3:2 pulldown). i need to make a couple of PAL copies for both france and japan.

is this possible with fcp 4 / compressor? if so, what are the settings. and how would i preview the end result on a ntsc set-up? or do i just hope for the best and wait for feedback from those in france and japan?

thanks in advance for the help.

I've never done this but from what I know the best way would be to do a 24p DVD which should play just fine in any PAL DVD player. Simply compress to MPG2 using Compressor 24p setting, leave the resolution NTSC and multiplex to DVD.
The other way would be to speed the clip up to 25p (remember the audio!), resize to PAL and re-interlace to make a regular PAL DVD.

Most PAL DVD players play NTSC. Besides, Japan is NTSC, not PAL. Japanese players will not play PAL DVD video.

As far as I've seen, most PAL DVD players can use progressive footage with no problems a all. No need to reinterlace.
