I have been having some major problems with this lens. Vignetting is ridiculously prominent around the edges. Now I have never experienced this kind of problem before with my 50mm Nikon 1.8 Ai-S. Now I want to know if its a lens or I just happened to get a crappy one?

I have the same lens and find it is realy hard to pull focus with it, it breaths alot. Just don't know if this is one of nikons poorer lens, but I avoid using it.

Dont know if this is related, but I have a 28mm nikon that on my first adapter I could never get in focus, but after my purchase of my second adapter this same lens comes in nice and sharp. What would this suggest?

It's so hard to know....

I've experienced similar problems. I have 5 lenses now, and have played with others, but I haven't noticed any patterns.
Sometimes a longer lens will vignette, sometimes a wider angled one.
*I have two 28mm lenses and one of them vignettes and the other does not.
I think it is a case to case basis, the task at hand would be to wrangle up a shitload of lenses and see if anyone can figure out what it is about them that causes this problem or not, and from that of course know what lenses to recommend for adapters and which not to.

My two best that I've never had any problems with are a Nikon 50mm, and a Nikon Nikkor 85mm. My Nikon 28mm comes in real close with no real noticeable vignetting, but my Vivitar 28mm seems to vignette slightly. I get the most noticeable vignetting from my Nikon E series 100mm.

Best of luck.

I have the Letus Extreme and the following lenses:

Nikon 28 f2.8 Ai-s
Nikon 50 f1.8 Ai-s
Nikon 50 f1.8 E
Zeiss Planar T* 85 f1.4 ZF

I have no problems with vignetting or focus with these lenses and the Zeiss is definitely the best of the bunch. For adapter use the Ai-s series seems to be the best from Nikon with the E series being a cheaper alternative to the Ai-s range. I purchased the Zeiss new which was really expensive compared to all my others but I wanted a really good lens in perfect condition and had the money to do it so I'm happy with that.
