24fps movies on 25fps Televisions

I am in Bastogne tonight on D-Day. Of course the are playing The Longest Day on TV. I've never seen 24 played on a 25 fps TV. Besides the frame rate speed up, it looks very much like daytime soap operas. The town scenes look like they shot models. Is this the case for all movies or does it happen to be this presentation?

I am actually not sure what your question is, yes 24p movies are played at 25p in PAL countries.
Whether you like the movie or not is obviously simply a matter of taste.

I'm not expressing an opinion of like or dislike of the movie. I've seen it before and it looked fine. I am saying that the look went from a film, to a soap opera video (that stark, sharp, live look) and I was wondering if that is because of the frame rate difference. The look is startlingly different. I would not have imagined that the frame rate difference would cause such a dramatic change in look of the film . So I am asking those who live in Europe, who may see many films presented on 25p TV if all movies have this odd look.

The problem may be the TV, rather than the conversion from 24 to 25p.
Some manufacturers ship their TVs with a default function (don't remember how they call it) that basically alters the framerate and makes the image more "real" according to them.

The TV very likely has its "true motion" setting on, interpolating everything to 50 or 100 fps. Curse those things. Curse them.
