24F and 30F Capture Settings

I am having problems with HDV 24F and 30F footage captured from my Canon XH-A1 in CS4. I am looking for some help.

The problem is that the footage appears to stutter on all shots where the camera is moving; fixed shots look just fine, even if the subject is moving. After rendering and encoding, the final result is the same: stuttering on all shots where the camera is moving.

I went to a camera store and imported the same footage into FCP, and it looks very smooth, with no stuttering.

My sequence settings are HDV 1080p24 and HDV 1080p30. I am sort of assuming that when I capture footage to a sequence, these settings are appropriate for HDV footage shot at 24F and 30F, respectively.

It is unclear to me if CS4 captures footage from the camera in it's native format, or if the sequence setting has any bearing on capture process. IOW, if you capture 30F footage in a project set up with a 1080p24 sequence, it may play back funny -- but if you create a 1080p30 sequence in the project and move the footge to it, it will look normal.

My last question is how to handle a single project that has both 24F and 30F footage? I have a small amount of 24F footage that I would like to use in my otherwise 30F project.
