So, in the process of importing 24p advanced pulldown footage into FCP, I've found two interesting, uh, challenges:
1. Sometimes, FCP will decide that the clip is 29.97, even though the capture setting is definitely 23.98 with advanced pulldown. This appears to happen most frequently when it hits a timecode break (yes, I know those are bad). Has anyone else experienced this? It's frustrating to import a big hunk of footage and then discover it is set with the wrong framerate...
2. Once, at a particular point on a particular reel, FCP stopped the capture with a message that (paraphrased, sorry) says "error in VFR/pulldown cadence." I assume this means some kind of dropout, but there's nothing visible in the tape, and it's alarming that a dropout could completely abort the capture. Any thoughts or guidance?
Thanks!
