Jack Bauer is back.

Anyone else see the 4 episode premiere? I was wondering what kind of camera they use now. I can't get over the blown out outdoor shots... anyways I don't know what to think about this season yet.
 
Katee Sackhoff...yum yum...Too bad she got saddled with the obligatory stupid subplot of the season.
 
It's pretty predictable by this point. By the end of the first hour I could already tell who's going to betray whom, and what's gonna happen several episodes down the road. My predictions:

1) Meridith Reed will get kidnapped at some point.
2) Dana Walsh will accidentally kill her ex and engages in a desperate conspiracy to cover it up, ultimately contributing nothing to the larger plot.
3) Jack Bauer will be forced to go rogue and break somebody out/steal vital information from CTU. He's done it in every season so far.
4) There will be a mole in CTU. My money is on that annoying tech guy who keeps hitting on Dana.

The only cliche that I really hate is the "kidnapping of family members/loved ones," it's just such a transparent plot device that was already tiresome back in season 1, but the writers insist on bringing it back when they run out of way to move the plot forward.
 
This show is out of hand. It's totally unbelievable. Can't imagine the strict vetting process to get hired by CTU?
Seems like anyone with any kind of past can get a job there...it's harder to get hired at Walmart!

...Don't even get me started on the UN!

....and Uber-Agent Jack 'The Yeller' Bauer can't even get out of a private residence without getting himself tased and beat bloody by some street cop?
Everyone knows police travel in pairs...right?

....Then there's 'Badass' Renee Walker...be sure to keep her away from the power tools if you know what's good for you.

Hells Yes! This is bad at it's best... you can actually feel yourself losing brain cells as you watch.

Flipping Katee Sackhoff's character into a terrorist mole makes little sense in the context of her previous actions in the show. Why didn't she just bump off the ex boyfriend the first time he came around? Why was she so concerned about the status of her relationship with Freddy Prinze's character? Why would she even get into a serious relationship with him? Stupid writing that just REEKS of someone making crap up as they go. Good thing this will probably be the last season.

Well, almost...

Two and a half out of four isn't too bad. Last week's episode was actually pretty decent. My heart sank when I saw that this week's script was by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, the two morons who did away with the Star Trek franchise. I didn't even know they worked on 24.
 
Yeah since Season 7, they got some new writers in from that show. I actually thought it's been better since they were in on it -- until Day 8.

I think what they've been doing though is running through the uneventful boring night hours for half a season. THEN building up to 24 for the last 10 or so episodes. Day time, rush hours. More threats and destruction.

I heard somewhere Renee's coming back into it now alongside Bauer.

Last weeks ep' here in the UK was good. Next one seems to be about Cole and Jack getting taken on by about 12 or so naughty men in a fire fight. Something's got to happen to Cole at some stage..
