23.976

Hi,

Looking for some help.

When I upload 23.976 footage into Vegas, it reads as 29.970, than when I put it in project media to edit and what not, I can change it back to 23.976. Is this ok?

Also, when I render it to burn for dvd, I render 23.976 widescreen sd footage in "best" quality... And when in DVD Architect, I go into optimize disk...Select Video 1, and change it to 23.976. Is this the proper way to burn 23.976 video?

Please let me know - I appreciate your time.

You don't tell us what kind of footage this is. If the file has pulldown addition in it, then it's 30p, not native 24p, and you would need to remove pulldown before you start editing!

No, if pulldown is added, it's 60i, not 30p.

If this is footage from the DVX or XL2, you can see why the capture program says it's 29.970 and then it reads as 23.976 in the media pool in this tutorial:

When you render for DVD, use the DVD Architect 24p Widescreen DVD template under MPEG-2. You CAN change the render quality to BEST, but if it's squeeze footage from the DVX, you don't have to. But if it's 4:3 footage you've cropped, you might want to, because you'll be rescaling it.

If you use the DVD Architect 24p DVD settings to render, you don't have to worry about that frame rate setting in DVD Architect, because DVD Architect doesn't have to recompress the video. But if you put any other kind of file into DVD Architect, it WILL recompress the video, and it will recompress it to the frame rate in that setting.
