OTHER: 2016 Demo Reel - Critique it porfavor!

What is the purpose of your reel? Convincing clients? Who are these clients? I do not know this so I can't give you a balanced opinion, but anyway I'll give it a try.

I like it but...

Missing a story that keeps me watching. There is no doubt the footage is nice. But the editing and the music is not supporting the images/goal.

I think music is too dominant, edited on music. The same for the sound, why not use the original sound or some text or voice over, a bit slower.

And besides that I wished I had this amount of quality work to show.

cheers

I like it for the most part.

I don't know if I would include shots of drones. Just the drone shots.

Also, there are a couple of shots from a distance (Renasaince fest or something) that look like a standard video shot and not very cinematic. Some of the sports shots may suffer from that effect as well. (Although I like the shot of the team coming out on the field toward the Camera). I would limit the sports shots to the quick compelling moments that are framed well (the Dunk and the touchdown run are examples)

However, it looked pretty good overall.

I think it looks good. Some of that footage was great!
I watched it trying to pick out shots to remove and I might not use the shot at 1:38 showing the drone operator and drone. It's not bad but just didn't seem like it helped the reel any.
I liked it being sync-edited with the music. Some may differ and that's fine. I'm no master for sure, but most reels I see just look like they are some shots thrown together and then a generic music track put in at the end which could easily be substituted. Your video looks like effort was made and it was built from the ground up, music and footage in harmony.

Another thought and you can feel free to toss this idea, but..
As I watchd it I wasn't sure what I was suppsed to feel. I got into the cinematic shots and then came something totally different. And then it changed again. This can be effective because it might leave potential clients thinking, "wow, he does everything". Sports, aerials, movies, explosions, cars, etc. But I do not think it is effective to have the wedding shots mixed in because brides will not care about all the other cool stuff. And all the guns and fireballs might actually turn them away because they don't want an action packed video.

On the flip side, most clients (non-brides) won't care that you can do weddings. They don't know or care that it takes a certain calliber of person to do them or care how good they look.
So, a separate wedding video with a different feel and then a coporate/cinema/sports everything powerful and cool video is my thought.

I agree, I think you have really good images, I would let them breathe more.
I would keep it simple and shorter and a slower phase with only your best images.
But it looks really nice now. :)
