2012 - Yeah baby.

Roland ?

I think Roland has skills even if he falls into popcorn land.

Independence Day, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow are all fun films. Pop corny, though.

Don't forget Stargate. Yes there are cheesy parts and it could have been given some more gravitas if you will, but you gotta admit that it is a pretty cool idea.

ID4 (remember the marketing campaign) is a fun and at times silly sci-fi popcorn flick. I have to admit that when flippin' through the channels, everytime it is on I seem to get sucked into watching it. Maybe I just love seeing all the explosions, but somehow this one always sucks me in.

I actually enjoyed The Patriot. Reminds me of Braveheart a bit.

Nothing wrong with being good at making popcorn movies.

Looks like he is recycling all Visual FX of all films he ever made in this one.

.....December 21. 2012 huh?

This will sure ruin my x-mass party that year.

Okay, Godzilla and 10,000 BC might not be great. I'm not saying that Roland Emmerich is James Cameron or Spielberg level here, but that he's made some good big-budget popcorn flicks. I will say though, I like his older stuff a lot better than his more recent films.

As for 10,000 BC, I caught a glimpse of the last act where there are wholly mammoths at what look like Egyptian pyramids. I won't pass total judgement on the film because I haven't seen it in its entirety, but can anyone who has seen it confirm if my assumption is right? Is this supposed to be Egypt? Seems pretty silly and inaccurate if it is.

I want Stargate 2. Bring back James Spader and Kurt Russel. I think that would be better than another disaster movie.

2012 -- nice teaser trailer. I don't know. Personally I don't believe in any of the theories that the world will end because the Mayans said so, rather than we will possibly ruin the Earth's ability to support us and much of the life on it. Makes for good drama and story concepts. I think the Bible Code would be a better concept to wrap an adventure or apocalyptic thriller around.

I've had enough of Roland Emmerich and his god damn giant waves.

Amen. His sensibility seems to be stuck in the 90's...And The Patriot only reminded me of Braveheart in that Braveheart is good, and The Patriot is not. ID4 has a cheesy kind of charm, other than that, his filmography sucks. He is like the filmmaker every hack Sci-Fi channel director yearns to be.

like he could be better. hes no paul w.s. anderson or uwe bolls. he has potential but he picks really bad scripts.

His movie concepts are just so damn lazy, the thinnest excuse to throw disaster visuals at the screen. He is definitely better than Paul WS Anderson and Uwe Boll. I can usually smell a potentially good movie when I watch his stuff, whereas with Anderson and Boll all I smell is the overpowering scent of dookie.

I thought the world was suppose to end in 2000? I'm confused.

nonono in 2000 planes were to fall out of the sky, computers were to stop working, ending modern society. on 12 21 2012 the earth the sun and the black hole in the center of the milkyway will line up perfectly creating a polar shift, the new north and south pole will be in texas and china or something. and the sun will toss out flares that will reach the earth burning portions of it into charcoal, the only people who will be safe are those underground in an area that will not be a new ocean or polar cap. in other words Canadians who are under ground for at least a year.

personally I'm looking forward to it lol, that and I have to much time to watch the history channel.

but Robbie you have to do more than most Canadians, I mean you have to have more than your head under ground, hahahaha kidding, Merry Christmas.

Well I just saw this film and it is a steaming pile of crap, not even worthy of television at 4am. I started hearing all the jesus references I knew it would be of a religious nature. Crappy acting, crappy screenplay and implausable on all points. The Mayans, before Columbus, were Xtians? Gimme a break! LOL! The actually made that point.
