2012 Cinematography Reel

Hey all,

Just posted my 2012 Cinematography Reel. 90% was shot on Epic, it was a fun year!

Would love your thoughts on it!

Thanks for watching,

Counted 15 clips with direct sun lens-flares and now my eyes hurt!
It's a very well-paced reel though and your work looks 'epic'!

Beautiful images, but I think the overcranking gets to be a bit much. What kind of work are you going after? This should serve well to get commercials and music videos, but I don't see it attracting much narrative work as you need to showcase your abilities at 24fps more than you have.

Again though, beautiful images :) just moving too slow in most cases.

Dsclaimer: I've been noticing the trend of over-overcranking for some time now, and am more sensitive to it than most. Personal tastes coloring my comments here for sure. Your target audience probably won't notice nor mind, in fact will probably love it.

the beg. feels more commercial and the end feels very documentary to me. Is that the type of work you're wanting to get?
The song doesn't do it for me. Doesn't go anywhere or build.

I agree with everyone else. Pretty slow-paced, though I didn't mind the music. It certainly does tend more towards a commercial, and then doco feel, rather than a necessarily narrative feel. I'd probably expect a different reel if I were hiring you for narrative work.

I also completely agree about the sun flares - some were really nice but by the end of it, I was starting to get the impression that the only nice shots you have are sun flare shots. It seemed like 90% was outdoors and 85% of those shots were sun flare shots. I feel like there should be a little more diversity...
