2009 Directors showreel - Now Online!

I know this was posted a few months back, but I'll comment anyway.

Some of the stuff isn't bad. The girl on the beach was probably the best looking footage. Good idea putting it first.

I'd ditch the shot of the pan and scan zoom on the Alien footage. Not sure how this helps anyone understand what kind of director you are. Kind of just says, "I like this movie".

Is all of your footage from short/long films you've made? The stuff wit the cats kind of looks like you went outside and just shot some cats. I'd at least cut the shots before the cats look at the camera. That way it'll at least look like it's part of some film you were shooting.

The footage with the kids has some major vignetting. Not sure if this was on purpose, but either way it's a little distracting. The jungle stuff at the end looks really nice, but man the reaction from the girl and the "What are you?!!!" are pretty eyeroll-inducing. Hope I don't sound too harsh. I'm just trying to look at this from an employer's perspective. Although I guess if you're a director, maybe the "What are you?!" line wouldn't bother them so much, since that seems to be more the writer's fault.

Anyway, some nice stuff on there. I'd be a bit more selective about what makes it into your reel. It's gotta be only the very best of your work.

Yes, with a reel you need to blow your load within the first minute. Not many people will watch beyond that unless you have a lot of compelling visuals. The cats come in way too soon, and except for the girl on the beach and the scene at the end, your reel seems to be filled with stuff you just took the camera out and shot.
