Here we go! Season starts on Thursday! Who is your team, and what are your thoughts this year?

I saw a great college football game tonight, UCLA taking out 18th ranked Tennessee in overtime! Wow... I'm not a college football guy, but I root for the California teams...

For those who don't know, my NFL team is the Broncos, and I'm a diehard fan. I'm hoping for a great year for Jay Cutler, and expect us to make a good push into the playoffs. Our season opener is against the Raiders, always a good rivalry, and I expect a good win from us... I just pray for no more 42-3 losses this year (I was at the San Diego womping last season)...

Rooting for the BROWNS!

Nobody expects them to go all the way, not even myself. We are just hoping they get to the playoffs. Then we'll start wishing for miracles.

I am perhaps the biggest Baltimore Raven fan there is.

This is gonna be a rocky year for us but i am the eternal optimist and im hoping that we shock some people this year.

We start out the season against the Bengals (or the Bungles) and i think its a winnable game.

Were starting Joe Flacco our #1 pick this year, so im hoping he dosent get murdered behind our shakey O-line.

Man i love football season...it is by far my favorite season.

I'm with Briceman. Go Broncs!

I'm hoping the other Brandon comes up big this year (of course with his suspension done on week 2 instead of 4, it's going to help). Selvin Young looks great, Aldridg (sp) has got some hops, Cutler looks really solid and even Patrick Ramsey looked good in preseason. Thank goodness Jim Bates is gone. What a nasty defense package. The broncos live by the blitz... they also are really good at dying by the blitz. But, hey... it's what they do. Ask the Giants how well that works.

I'm very interested to see how Eddie Royal can team up with Marshall and Stockley to make it a really impressive air threat. Going to be a good year. I predict 10-6 with a loss in the 2nd round of playoffs. Or..... Superbowl Champs!

I just wish Lynch would come back now that he's been forced back into retirement.

I'm a 30+ year Giants fan.

Last year was the best season I could ever hope for. I can live on that for a long time. Which is good as I'm not expecting too much from them this season. Especially since the NFC East is going to be really tough this year.

Right there with you...

Having grown up in NY the Giants are the only real team there is for me. Last year was completely unexpected and I'm not hoping for the same this year...

The Jets have become interesting simply because I like Farve.

The Panthers (my local team) continue to be a joke to me.

My predictions:
Giants: 10-6
Jets: 4-12
Panthers: 7-9 (I am really tempted to go 6-10 because I hate Jake but I will give the benefit of the doubt)

That Superbowl was amazing. Desperate frantic total chaos and somehow they prevailed over the Patriot machine. As a 49er fan, I put it just behind the '89 superbowl where Joe Montana drove 90 yards in the final 3 minutes and beat the Bengals with a TD pass to John Taylor. Joe to his teamates with 45 seconds left in the game: "Hey, check it out, That's John Candy..."

sweeeeet. i'm a florida state guy. as a lowly acc fan i love seeing any sec team go down. plus i lived in nashville for 7 years and had to deal with tennessee fans every day.

i'm more into college fb, but i follow the titans and the bucs since i've lived in both towns. also looking forward to seeing how favre will do with the j-e-t-s.

I am a die-hard Panthers fan having grown up in Charlotte, but now live near NYC (basically the opposite of Jeremy).

I think they will win the NFC South if they stay healthy - did anyone see them in the 3rd preseason game against the Skins? 34-0 at halftime!! Too bad Steve Smith is out for those first two games, as they could really use him against the Chargers. That's a tough first game. They have a relatively easy schedule after that though, so I think they can go 10-6 to win the division since the South sucks. I don't understand the Jake hatred - he seems pretty non-offensive, actually. Oh well.

I also kinda root for the Steelers because so many of my buddies up here are from Pittsburgh. They look like they could have a great year again. If Mendenhall can hold onto the ball, maybe they'll have a legitimate big bruising back again too.

Jake hatred is two-fold.

1. Jake takes no responsibility for his teams losses. During every postgame interview he continues to blame everyone else rather than take responsibility for the four interceptions that he threw.

2. Jake is treading on that super bowl berth rather than moving forward. You can only get by on past accomplishments for so long before the fans demand something now. Jake is not a Mr. Now.

Charlotte is a fair weather city anyway. When the team is winning every game is selling out but when they start out going 0-3 you can't give away tickets.

The same thing happened with the Hornets. The Bobcats were DOA.

Without Smith, who should be suspended for breaking a teammates nose, they might as well not show up in San Diego to start the season

Just my opinions.

is he the rookie a few of the veterans like hines are making carry a ball with him everywhere he goes, and if anyone can get it he has to give them $100? sounds like a good way to get the message to him.

Yes, that's the guy.

And @ Jeremy, I won't argue with you about Jake. Suffice it to say I don't share your opinions, but I respect them nonetheless. He is my quarterback, so I am obviously going to take the other side on these kinds of subjective issues.

However, regarding Charlotte as a fair-weather city... The Hornets were actually very, very well supported throughout all the ups and downs of the team - UNTIL the owner decided to move the team against the will of everyone involved. The fans then turned on the team completely (myself included) because George Shinn was such a POS. Fan support was actually at its lowest when the team was having some of greatest success in the last season in Charlotte.

I agree about Panthers fans in general though (I always keep the faith, but too many I know do not), and the Bobcats is just a sad, sad franchise.

Speaking of QuarterBacks, I used to dislike Eli, but it's amazing how winning a Super Bowl will change your opinion on a QB. :)

I don't feel too strongly one way or the other about him as a quarterback, but he is a super nice guy. He lives here in Hoboken, and hangs out at my friend's fancy restaurant/bar across from his building sometimes, and nobody ever has anything but nice things to say about him. Also, he looks even younger in person than he does in tv. Like a 6'4" sixteen year old.

been a Bills fan since i can remember (which i guess is 20+ years now ... yikes!) I had a depressing childhood with those superbowls, and I'm not that optimistic about this season. 10-6 and a playoff berth would be big for them.

Also live in charlotte and the rest of my family is packers fans, so here's some predictions:
Bills: 8-8
Panthers: 6-10 (I agree with everything Jeremy said)
Packers: 10-6

I'm a die hard Pats fan and losing that Superbowl took about 3+ months to get over....seriously. That was a rough way to lose a Superbowl and an undeafeted season. Ah well, 18-1 wasn't so bad and the Giants really deserved it, that last game of the regular season when we went 16-0, you could really tell the Giants used that for motivation during there playoff run, and really well deserved, the had a fantastic game plan. It was a hell of season watching the Pats. About a day after the Superbowl, I couldn't wait for opening day to get back at it. Awesome that it's starting this weekend. Love football season.

This year will be my first time I get to see an NFL game. Going to Pats Vs Seahawks in Seattle in December for a Sunday Night game, me and my brother dropped 600+ for tickets and got killer seats on the 30 yard line. Can't wait. I also just got my new Pats jersey in last week, to add to my collection, got Brady, Vrable and now Seymour.

The Pats also have the easiest schedule in the NFL this year, but I think will do something like 13-3 or 14-2. I'd be very happy with that.

It's going to be interesting to see how Favre does this year with the Jets, I think he is going to tank.

Pats were my number one when the Browns left for Baltimore. They were decent back then (1996, just becoming what they are today) but not the team they are today. Even when the Browns returned to Cleveland (1999), I liked the Pats more, but everyone kept harassing me for being a fair weather fan, although it wasn't true. Over time I just didn't like how the Patriots, a team I used to root for, was just winning TOO much. That may be blasphemous, but what fun is winning when you pretty much know it's going to happen 90% of the time? I went back to the underdog (no pun intended) Browns for that reason. I like the excitement when an underdog pulls through and wins. And they are getting better and better. Soon they will punch through like the Giants and upset a 'better' team.

Here's to the Colts having a record 6th 12+ win season in a row and another Superbowl. Hopefully we can get healthy and stay healthy. (and destroy San Diego along the way, since I'm in Chargerland now)
