Hey, I don't have the money to spend on a new monitor just for filmmaking right now, and have a question about some equipment I already have.

Here's the monitor: 2005 fpw monitor dell
with dvi, s video, composite, vga inputs

Is it possible, using an hdmi/dvi converter, to use it as a monitor for the HMC150, which has hdmi out, on a rolling stand? I understand that using it outdoors would be a bit of a pain, but for indoors stuff, would that work? If not, is there a preferred, inexpensive monitor to use on a rolling stand with the hmc150 that will allow us to preview lighting, focusing and framing?

Computer monitors will look like crap with a camera feed, they all do. When the HVX first came out, everyone was using their Dell 2405 monitors as video monitors, then raising holy hell that the HVX had horrendous macroblocking, noise and a bad picture. Then, when people plugged their HVXs into real broadcast HD monitors, they began to realize that the HVX looked fine, it was the crappy computer monitors that were making the picture look terrible.

Buy an HD monitor, even a cheap Costco 19" Sony is better than a computer monitor for judging picture.
