$200 Editing Desk Idea

I bought this from 20% OFF from Officemax to supplement my main edit desk:

http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/prodBlock.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&prodBlockOID=537381255&expansionOID=-536879593

all THREE handy pieces for $200!! free delivery, too. I like how you can make it one, full featured desk or two.. obviously not premium quality "wood," but it will work to make part of an "L" configuration. I will actually SIT at my other desk, which lucky me, MATCHES! I think they all grew up on the same "tree" farm.

but now I have to put it together...

Are you kidding? That's the best part!

Sometimes I think I go to Ikea just so I can assemble everything!

By the by- that link didn't work.

I own this desk:

The Ikea.. Jerker..

in the words of Comic book guy.... Best.. Desk... ever...

so much space to rest my arms, plus I the shelf above to put speakers.. or whatever...

definately the a good buy..

I realize you already bought, just wanted to share...

EDIT: Same with me.. link worked on 2nd try.. odd..

sorry about that--to find the desk system:

http://www.officemax.com

then search: "mobile tech"

in case anyone is wondering, you can get the mobile worktable or the computer base unit or both. the width of each little of the 3 shelves on the computer base unit is 9 inches across. The height of the part where the computer can go is 22 inches.

the top of the mobile caddy looks like a good place for a printer or laptop

I'm going to get baskets to put stuff in the 3 shelf parts.

got my power tools, delivery man cometh!

whoops! I forgot about Ikea. However, I've been eyeing the stuff for a long time. Been using fold up long tables for awhile. somehow over the past year, I've accumlated so many things with LCDs. It just got too crowded.

where will you put your legs?

I don't know why that made me laugh a lot! but I know guys who get
really testy when they don't have enough leg room down there.

the plan i've hatched for my Mobile Tech System is to use it adajacent to my main desk. The "L" configuration. I don't know if I'll keep both desks together or apart, but together, it looks like a good place to put all those things that end up everywhere, you know, extra external harddrives, mini dv rewinders, portable dvd players, speakers, CDs, batteries being charged, laptops, dvds spindles, printers, paper, books, and of course, FOOD. If I separate them, well, I just have more table space to layout junk or monitors.

i hope I don't screw up and drill something backwards or inoperable. I've done that before.

Hehe.. I had two IKEA Jerkers in my workspace for years... REALLY nice desks.

I now went with wall mount LCDs and a Pier One stationary desk. Much smaller
footprint with just as much overall space.

Now I need to get a nice rackmount for hardware :)

You have the desk, but do you have the computer?

Beautiful! Reminds me that if I could find a real OLD desk, I’d love that. My favorite is the DEDO computer. Is that your work?

Well, I take that back, the old desk, I’m sure would weigh a TON.

Wall mount! You know, I’ve forgotten about that idea! Though I think I'll be tired of drilling/buidling after I get done with the desk stuff.

Hehe.... its obviously like 8 months old, but this is the core of the setup... there is an additional LCD these days and an SGI Octane2 on the table with the arrangement.

that is way to clean to be a real work space.

get dirty, man.

where are the ho-ho wrappers? the empty bottles of beer? the PCs?
