Been spending the past two evenings researching where I can buy the female receptacle for this Hirose manufactured connector. I'm trying to build a little breakout box so I can use a professional b&w viewfinder on my new ENG camera style DSLR rig. Still waiting to hear back from a ton of distributors, but I thought I'd start this thread in case anyone was interested in getting these parts or had some inside info.

From what I learned:

· The 20 pin Hirose connector is either discontinued or made custom for Sony
· Even with the same exact pin layout, different cameras and different viewfinders use different pinouts. Watch out.
· There is only one model of viewfinder (which has no model number!) that has a built in shotgun mic. Most don't carry audio in the 20 pin.
· Some are 12v, some are 9.3v. Try to find your viewfinder's manual to find out.

I'll keep people updated. If I can get this working I might be willing to make a few custom boxes if anyone's interested.

Last time I checked, the panel mount, female connector was a regular Hirose product, but not a stock item, available only by special order (i.e. an expensive proposition).
Worse, the male connector was shown as only available as a custom-molded cable assembly.

You won't be able to purchase this connector on it's own. Trust me, this is coming from the company that makes the ProVFM adapter which is essentially what you're trying to do. It is not something easily aquired.

Yeah this is what I figured. I'm wiring my box right up to the viewfinder's PCB, no luck and no point in trying to find the connector.
