... is riding on tonight's Canadian 649 draw. The draw is for $39 million and if I win I'm pledging just over half or $20 million of it to dvxusers who have their feature scripts and need money.

The odds are 14 million to 1. Fairly decent odds compared to what filmmakers are used to.

Just so you can check the numbers its the Nov. 01 draw and our numbers are 25, 29, 35, 38, 45, and 47.

As it should be everywhere. In almost every country of Europe, what you see is what you get, and this is even in socialist countries! The U.S. has the worst tax structure for a country this advanced, I swear. It's total BS. If a lottery says $100 million you should get $100 million RIGHT NOW, today, tax free. Not a penny less. That's how it is in many other countries. You enter a lottery, you get the money right then and there, and there are no taxes on it. Instead, here, you win a $140 million lottery and you walk away with, what, $35 million lump sum after taxes? That's just pathetic and wrong. It's robbery. Especially because a lot of profits made on lotteries are already given to state-causes and they make enough money, without needing to tax you further on winnings.

Prize money in Canada is tax free. :)

To the winner it's TAX free but if you gift any monies to friends, family members, etc the person receiving the gift will be taxed on that gift and that's global.

I also don't like that we are tax on prize money, I mean tax is ment for money earned, you did not earn the lotto money, out of luck you won it.

I agree. Every time I win a lottery I owe a whole pile of taxes. It's getting really old, and believe me - mortgage payments on my South Pacific island aren't getting any lower...
