20,000 pixels by 40,000 lines of Res

nice but I think thats alittle too overkill for film work. Plus imagine editing at that rez. Talk about rendering and applying your magic bullet filters. Ouch!

yea, but damn, thats alot of resolution. It just makes me think what crayz **** the government has. I mean, they always have modern technology like 30 years before it comes out. In the late 60's when NASA was launching space shuttle left and right they already had internet that we use now, with the ability to move "broadband" amounts of information through a large network of computers. I cant even fathom what crayz top secret stuff they have now.

MacGyver hasn't been seen in years... it's not a coincidence.

that Macgyver.......one time, just one time, Id like to see him not get out of some ridiculously impossible situation.

The camera’s high resolution will enable the identification of objects as small as a coffee table while the camera orbits 300 kilometers above the planet’s surface.

This explains the CIA's big new coffee table book!

Don't get too excited, it's not that advanced. Anyway, SLOW internet came along in the 80s; shuttle came along in the late 70's. And sadly, NASA DOESN'T have as much capability for many things as it did in the 60's... and certainly not the budget or mandate....

wow.......imagin having a camera that threw out these resolutions:

Just read the third pharagraph a few times, atleast until you realize exactly what it means

Anyway, what does it mean? Don't imagine this as a 20,000 x 40,000 CCD; it's really a 20,000 x 1 CCD that sweeps across the image over time. I don't think Final Cut OR Vegas have a filter that'll turn that into smooth 24p.

That's what they want you to think :undecided

From what I have heard about places like NASA and the CIA, they are suprisingly low-tech. Apparently NASA had to buy up a load of 486 PCs for spares to keep all of their old but functional equipment in working order.

I would think that Google is a far greater tool for the CIA than spy satellites. I trained as a pilot in the RAF and was rather unimpressed by the technology. For example my off-the-shelf £130 GPS was better than the ones in the aircraft!

I have heard some quite impressive rumours of the US Air Force though. I think they have equipment which is pretty cutting edge.
