2" Quad Tape Units

Last week I was talking with someone who works at KLEW (Lewiston, ID) and I mentioned that I had visited their station several years back... Well after a bit of searching, I found one of the photos I tool of the 2" Quad Tape Recorder they had at the station at that time. If I remember correctly, that dates back to the 1960s.

The 2" Quad Recorders have been replaced, but I thought some might find it interesting to look at...

The year I visited the station was 1989.

The 2" Quad Technology dates back to the 1960s.

The people working at the station had to admit that due to lack of funds they were running with old equipment.

In 1989, 1" Type C was the popular broadcast format.

I was also surprised to hear that KLEW is in the process of upgrading to HD. Right now, they can feed HD form CBS, but they are working on getting their studio and field equipment upgraded to HD.
