2-pop DVX forum dead?

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

Noah posted something, which said basically that UEM (which runs the site) and Panasonic were having some sort of "disagreement".

No further clarification. Panasonic used to advertise heavily over there, but recently they posted links here to DVXUSER and also to DVINFO... maybe 2-pop didn't like that too much? Who knows?

The funny thing was, even though that forum did much less traffic than this one, it was by FAR the most popular of the camera/cinematography forums on that site.

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

yes... actually me and Noah are good friends, and I started out on 2-pop just like everyone else.. its really a great forum for the bigger scope of things.. although we are starting to branch out here :)

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

would be nice to see Noah here too, sure is a great source of knowlidge!

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

I thought that guy Noah was so rude(sorry Jarred)!!!

People are much more friendly here.

Long Live DVXuser.com!!!

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

Noah is a member here.. but obviously its a confilict of interest to his bosses over at 2pop to come and hang out. He does watch though :)

And he doesnt mean to be rude, he just has more obligations over there to keep advertisers happy, and here our advertisers are down with our program and that is why they are so good.

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

That's too bad, although I don't spend a huge amount of time on 2-pop anymore. I've always found Noah to be a great moderator--patient and knowledgeable. It's helpful to have multiple forums that are thriving--collectively, they're an amazing resource. I prefer DVXUser because of the smaller community, the lack of egos and games, and the supportive environment.

I concur. In fact, that's what led me here.

I was getting pissed watching Noah hack or eliminate posts.

Interesting, I don't remember that happening when I was on 2-pop a lot. There was an instance of a jerk who made racist and inappropriate comments getting kicked off the board. He would reappear from time to time under different names and get kicked off again. Maybe it started happening fairly recently. DVXUsers are self-moderating :-).

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

I started out on 2-pop, which is where I learned most about the technical aspects of the Precious. Once we actually had the camera, though, I found that dvxuser.com was a better forum for the post-purchase decisions like, 'now that I have the camera, what do I DO with it?!'

There are (or were) some heavy hitters on 2-pop, like MichaelP. I definately get the impression that 2-pop was full of 35mm people who were secretly (or not so secretly) delighting over the DVX's possibilities for low budget production.

Noah is someone I'd like to meet in person some day. I've seen him be very patient, but when he finally does run out of patience, oh man! What a temper!

If 2-pop is down for the count, that would be a terrible blow to DVXness in general.

but an increase in traffic for dvxuser! ;D

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

I would pop into 2-pop from time to time..however I must say that this forum is far away above any forum such as 2-pop, or the cow etc. Easy navigation and I think it is awesome that so many members on here answer questions in such detail. When I read the posts I am thankful that there are such informative DVX/film making teachers such as Barry Green, Barry S., Jarred, Terry, Neil, John, David J. to name a few that are so willing to pass along their advice through experience.

Thanks for all the help past , present and future.

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

There is something about the size of DVXuser that although it bosts a couple of thousand members, it still gets to feel like a tight group, too large a pool would take away that personal feeling that I look forward to every time I log in.

Also, I cant realy figure this one out but either this forum is a sacred filter that chooses great people or I dono what, but I sure think that the average DVXuser is not an average person at all he is generaly very cordial, funny, talented, and helpful! I always smile at the patience at which newbies are greeted with on the usual starter posts such as "my camera clicks as I tilit it to and fro, should I be taking it back to the store ??? ??? ??? :-X"

Thats MHO! This is a great place!

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

That is so true; I have never been on a Forum where LITERALLY everyone is so mellow and nice. Weird.

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

Howdy folks. Thanks for the comments regarding 2-pop- both good and bad. :) We have achieved stasis at this point over at 2-pop. As the owners of the site are corporate types we as mods don't have a lot of contact or say with, we've had to roll with the punches a bit.

I want to thank everyone for the support and the constructive criticism. I hope you'll all still drop by once in a while as I'll do here at DVXUser as well. Jarred is a good friend and has done an awesome job with this great site. We all are down for the same thing which is one kick ass camera.

thanks,
Noah

Re: 2-pop DVX forum dead?

John, I know why I am so mellow and nice: one part herbal remedy and many parts patience. Or maybe the other way 'round? Anyway, you guys set the tone around here and the level of discourse reflects that. Thank you and keep rolling.
P.S. Nice use of soundtrack on that cheers theme. 8)
Wow I made bronze! ;D
