2 nvidias equals quicker rendering?

i just got a mac pro and i added an extra nvidia 256 card, now does that actually increase my render speeds in programs like motion or just allow me to plug more monitors in?
 
I really doubt it would increase your render speed as most programs utilizes CPU for render and not GPU. It might help give you faster previews though.
 
yeah thats what i mean like in motion when i play to preview my effect. is there some setting i have to activate to let motion know to use both graphics cards, or is it just beter to go with a 512 card
 
I'd upgrade to the recommend ATi x1900 card. AFAIK in order to "combine" the power of two gfx cards they cards have to be built w/that function in mind and connected to one another via a cable. Nvidia's SLI technology (which they got from the buyout of 3DFX years ago) is an example of such technology.
