2 mics on one Senheiser G2 wireless

Has anyone tried doing this?

Since the mic input on the transmitter is the same size as a headphone jack, would a 1-2 1/8" splitter be able to attach to mics into this input?

thanks

You could feed two mics to one transmitter but you'll need more than a simple "Y" splitter for it to work. Splitting outputs like headphones isn't usually a problem but combining inputs usually requires a little more trickery to prevent the two sources from interacting with each other and degrading their performance - simply connecting them in parallel rarely works. Wouldn't hurt anything to try it, of course, but I think you'll find the sound quality to be compromised. But sending two or more mics to a mixer, then the mixer's output to a transmitter for a wireless hop to the camera is done every day.

Disregarding electical issues, if you were thinking about putting two lav mics into one transmitter I don't see how that could be very workable from the mechanics of mic placement. No point in putting two mics on one person and if you were micing two people you'd have interviewer and subject or your two actors tethered to each other by a wire, not very practical situation.

The simple answer is - "no".

The input needs to be properly screened and connected with a screw-lock jack. Not doing this will result in cracks and noises as the jack moves in the socket as the person moves.

Don't forget, also, that the mic. socket has 5V "plug-in power" coming out to power the mic.

What is the reason you want to do this?

simply answer is yes if the mics get proper voltage and current
what works fine with lectrosonics probably will work with sennheiser
by the way , the voltage will stay the same , the amount of current will drop
usually electret mics would work normally from 1.5 v , some need more
