2 cameras for the first time

I'm shooting a video MOS using 2 cameras. This is my first shoot using 2 cameras. If the two cameras are white balanced together using the same white balance board, both use the same iris settings, same scene file (scene file 6 / 24p), and both use the same Netural Density filter settings will the footage be identicial?

One is a DVX100a and the other is a DVX100b.

If I didn't have a field monitor should I be worried the footage may come out differently?

If I had one field monitor available is there a way to connect both cameras to the same monitor and switch back and forth to check both channels?

Thanks guys!!!

Identical? No. Close? Yes.

I assume you've never seen the actual process to match two cameras, but it's quite a production. But what you describe here should be enough to get the two camera's to cut well. A little tweak here or there in post, and you should be good to go.

thx

thx

thanks for the reply! i guess NTSC really does stand for 'never the same color' LOL.

would a little tweak in post mean color correction?

thanks!

The best you can do to match cameras on the fly (without being a video engineer with a truckload of equipment) is to use two identical camera models and set them to white balance preset.
But yes, your approach should be good enough if you correct tiny differences in post.

Field monitors usually have an A and B input that you can switch back and forth. Depends on the monitor - very small ones maybe don't have that feature, but most do have it.
