2.35.1

Is this "16x9" footage shot with either squeeze or the anamorphic adapter? If it is, then based upon having a PAR (pixel aspect ratio) of 1.2:1, the procedure isn't that complex. What you will need to to is set a pair of crop bars at the appropriate points to result in an anamorphic 2.35:1 mask. These crop bars are set as a "Pre Encoding Task" in the "Transcode Settings".

Here is the simple math for determining the location of the bars.

Assuming an NTSC 1.2 PAR project (rounded to whole pixels):

720 / 2.35 = 306 (width in pixels * height/width ratio)

306 x 1.2 (actually 1.18472 is closer) = 363 (compensation for non square pixels)

480 - 363 = 117 (difference between full frame and cropped frame)

117 / 2 = 59 (bar size)

Based upon the math from above, set the top & bottom crop bars at 59 pixels each and then do your encoding. You will then have a properly "cropped" 2.35:1 aspect ratio project.
