2:35:1 export problem...

So I've recently shot a short 4:3 that I matted to 2:35:1 in final cut. When I'm exporting a quicktime file to transcode into an .flv or a MPEG the image keeps getting stretched.

I've tried several ways of exporting this with no luck.

Any suggestions??

NTSC DV is 720 x 480. When you export a regular quicktime movie using the current settings of your sequence, your 4:3 image will be a little stretched. Instead of 640 x 480, the raw quicktime is always going to be 720 x 480. You can resize the video in the quicktime movie properties to 640 x 480 and then save the changes to the movie file.

compressor->dvd studio pro

compressor->dvd studio pro

So I managed to export a 1280x720 uncompressed file of the film...Im going to bring it back into FCP and export an MPEG for a DVD delivery. What do I have to do to ensure that it won't be stretched when I bring it into DVD studio pro.

Sounds like you have an extra step in there. I'm not sure why you'd bring your exported movie back into FCP to export again.

Just bring the quicktime file directly into DVD SP and it will encode it for you there, or, and I personally think this is better, you can export directly to Compressor from FCP and let Compressor make the mpeg file.

Ill give that try...everytime I try to export the project file via compressor FCP would quit, so thats the reason for the extra step.

I never knew that DVD SP could encode quicktime files....that sounds like a step in the right direction. Ill give it a try...
