I just got my LEX last night so I have to get use to it.
I have a:
Nikon 24 mm f2.8, an 80-200 mm f2.8 and a 2X multiplier.
Tamron 90-300 mm f4.5-6.3
Tokina 28-70 mm f4 (Test Clip 720p 24 7 MBs http://www.mediafire.com/?2x9gnl0t9yq )
I once read something that Barry Green wrote. He said that he likes the look when cropping to 35 mm film better than 35 mm still. At the time I thought I would like to crop as little as possible to get a shallower DOF.
After my first test I am leaning toward 35 mm film framing. When I was a still photographer I liked the shallow DOF of a medium format cameras, but I only needed to get one frame in focus. As you can see on the clip above the smallest movement of your model (my wife) and you are out of focus.
I am sure that with time I'll get use to the little trick that you have to remember to fake 35 mm film with the LEX.
The clip was shot under control lighting in my chroma key studio, but it is hard to keep focus even with 42" plasma as a monitor.
Do you have the same problems with keeping focus or is there an easier way to do it?
