Col. That's the year I graduated, and the number of posts here.

Of course, this will make no sense if I post anymore.

A dilemma.

Hmmm...went to school with a girl named Candy Lemma. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

GenJerDan,

I see that you're in Ramstein-Miesenbach Germany. I'm an Air Force brat and I'm a graduate of Ramstein American High School (1999). That area is a great part of Germany. I loved it. Is the Broadway Kino still around?

I graduated in 1975 from The American School in Switzerland (Lugano). Oil brat. Had to go away to boarding school because my Dad (geophysicist) worked in Libya.

I noticed that after umpteen years, I have finally learned to spell geophysicist. Unfortunately, I married a cinematographer. Damn. Nothin's ever easy, is it?

Rammstein ........................................Rammstein
ein Flammenmeer ..............................A sea of flames
Rammstein .........................................Rammstein
Blut gerinnt auf dem Asphalt ..............Blood is coagulating on the asphalt
Rammstein ..........................................Rammstein
Mütter schreien ....................................Mothers are screaming
Rammstein .............................................Rammstein
die Sonne scheint ..................................The sun is shining

I know... bad joke (and spelling), but a great song from a crappy Lynch
movie (Lost Highway).

Shame on you David!

Hey Dan, I got a buddy that is in the Air Force stationed at Ramstein. He drives by your house and peeks in your windows every day. He tells me funny stories about you. :)

Yep. But The Laser is gone. (I think it was still there when you were here).

And OMG, they've been cutting down trees right and left for new development, on base and off. And there will be a HUGE BX right near the flightline opening next year.

Dang. I used to work part time at the soon to be old BX in the men's department. Good ol' AAFES.

Anyway, do you ever travel to Luxembourg City? The Utopolis theater there was my favorite place to catch flicks when I had the chance. It's great.

I've been to Luxembourg twice...once by accident (getting lost coming back from Bruxelles) and once on purpose because my (then soon-to-be) wife wanted to go. We ate at McDonalds and came home.

What's "Central Jersey"? I'm east-central. Monmouth County: Middletown (New Monmouth, to be picky), right on the shore-ish.

Ah. Post #1984. The year I joined the Army.

Wow, someone on this board that is older than I am. I graduated (from high school) in 1980. Gotta give it up for 1975. That summer was the summer of Jaws!!!. I was 2nd in line, first day, first showing.... I quess I have never been the same since.

"Central Jersey" is Metuchen, NJ to be exact. Though I do spend a lot of time at the shore--I surf at Belmar and Spring Lake from time to time.

Luxembourg City is my favorite place in Europe. It's very laid back with a great art museum, interesting Roman ruins/architecture, and a very cool mall/multiplex. You should definitely check it out--on the autobahn it would usually take me 45mins-1 hour to get there from the Ramstein area.

Yeah, but 21 posts from now, it'll be next year and I've signed an NDA, so I can't tell you what's going to happen in the future. :(

But #1985: My first assignment in the Army (yes, training lasted a year...sheesh) - Berlin, Germany.

Surrounded by Commies. And babes. And babes who were Commies. And MiGs buzzing The Wall at night when I was trying to sleep. Giving cans of Dr Pepper to young Soviet border guards when driving through "the corridor" to the West.

Did I mention the babes?

Buying Olympic match quality air rifles and Zeiss binocs in East Berlin for a pittance because the Dollar:DDR Mark exchange rate was about 15:1.

The Ku'dorff. Tolstefanz. Eierschale. Hell, even the Mon Cheri... ;-)

Ah, well.
