So Im making a space film (on film) and i want to do some exterior space ship shots. using no blue screen after effects etc. im going to be doing double exposures and camera tricks to try and show an actor walking on top a minature space ship - its all about pespective.

any ideas on more special effect gimmicks i can try would be so helpful! think matte paintings, mirrors, etc!

That sounds cool. I recently (like four days ago) finished a music video shoot on film with had a miniature space station floating in space. For the stars I connected five stands of white christmas tree lights together and hung them on a photography background stand in my darkened living room. I used my blinds to clamp up a black background behind that around four feet. The space station was a model I bought at a hobby store that was already prepainted, I just added some matte finish to it to kill the shine and used thin tread to make it float across the screen. I used a 100 watt tungsten to light the space station as my only light source and flag the light off so it didn't hit the background.
