"16mm flash" - How to achieve similar effect?

You know when you watch 16mm footage and sometimes when it cuts to another scene you get that kind of hazey orange/yellow/white flash that flickers before it goes to a new scene..

Any idea how I could achieve a similar effect in AE?

I've googled it, youtubed it, vimeo and everything.. I don't even know what you'd call it but I really like the look of it and I want to reproduce it..

Any help?

It's used a lot in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6m3lm5TvjA&hd=1

I guess now would be a good time to ask this too:

Does anyone have a set of overlay-able videos like the one suggested above with hair/scratches/dust and such to make some footage look like it's on some old busted film?

The ones I've seen in the likes of AE and Sony Vegas are too clean and digital looking to pass off as a real.. reel.

Thanks!

If you could do some that would be awesome, I need something realistic that does actually looked aged and not just perfect lines and pixels shaped like hairs.

Do you have any examples of what it's like?

This is really easy to make yourself. Just create a new solid or shape layer, get your pen tool out and draw in some random shapes, set your color as desired, blur it to taste and mess around with transfer modes and opacity. You can draw multiple random shapes in a comp and sequence them out for something animated. Dig through some of the built-in plug-ins to get things like weave, etc.
