16bits or 24bits sound editing?

We just finished editing a movie in Premiere. Post production audio will be done in Pro-Tools by professionnals.

The original dialog was recorded directly into the camera in 16bits-48hz, and the film was edited in Premiere in the same 16bits-48hz.

The original music was recorded in 24bits 44hz.

When they do the sopund editing job in pro-tools, should they upgrade to 24Bits-48hz or stick with 16bits-48hz?

I have two sound editing companies with similar bids. One wants to edit and mix the show in 16bits-48hz to stick with the original dialog format, and the other wants to set everything to 24bits-48hz.

Which approach seems better?

I'd probably go with the 24 bits myself. You lose nothing by working with 16 bit files in a 24 bit project. You DO lose something by doing the reverse.
