16 or 35!

After shooting with an adaptor, I think the grain makes it look more like 16mm than 35mm. How does the image look when it's projected on a large screen? Will DSLR give me a cleaner image?

There is no "grain" with an adapter. If there is you're not using it right as adapters are engineered so that those static grain do not show up in the final image. The only "noise" associated with adapters would be because they cause light loss and you're underlighting your image.

If you are using an adapter with a spinning GG you should never see any extra grain, if you do, your batteries are running low or the speed of the GG needs to be cranked up.

As Huy Vu said you should never pick up any extra grain no matter what type of adapter you're using. But, spinning adapters are known for less risk to give you that problem, where the vibrating may be more silent and less bulky/heavy, but they tend to give you grainproblems much easier.

But it is my understanding that a Camera with adaptor will not give you as sharp an image as a camera without adaptor due to GG diffusion.

That is correct, the image gets a bit more soft. Allthough when trying a camera with adapter out on a focus chart you'll see that it is really sharp.

There are a lot of things that you need to adjust to get it sharp, such as back focus, F stop on the lens, F stop on the camera, lens collimination, and camera settings such as detail level. I usually crank the detail level up +2, and compensate with detail coring and master ped to remove some of the noise that comes with the increased detaillevel.

Ask yourself if all the extra work is worth it (IMO it is). I've done a really short test video with my hmc and sgblade a while ago, it turned out really sharp.
