16 gig p2 prices

Does anyone know if the 16 gig card will be significantly cheaper than buying 2 8 gig cards? And if not, then what's the big appeal?

The big appeal is that you don't have to swap out cards as often. You get more recording time per card.
So, if you're doing an interview, you can go longer without stopping to swap cards.

For me, it means I can concentrate on shooting wildlife longer without having to worry about swapping out a card nearly as often.

I read where one Panasonic official said to expect the price of the 16 GB to "be comparable" to the 8 GB. I took that to mean the price would be about the same....but I guess he could have meant "comparable" per GB...which would put the price at double.

P2 Cards or FS-100

P2 Cards or FS-100

Getting ready to buy the FS-100, or should I? How much recording time in HD can one use with one 8 gig and one 16 gig p2 card?

an 8 gig card gives you 20 minutes at 720 24 pn, which is probably the most popular format. At 1080 you get 7-8 mintues. Double these numbers for 16 gig.

Thanks Dogcat for the info.

Wouldn't it be easier just to use the FS-100? My camera will already have the 8 gig p2 card from panasonic. The FS-100 runs around $1800 at EVS. What are the pros and cons using the FS-100?

You will have to do a search for the FS-100 in it's most recent incarnate, but people are using it pretty successfully. It has a way longer recording time than p2. I think the system is without it's faults, but does the job. The firewire input was never a strong point.
