16:9 viewfinder solution???

Hi...

I'm looking for a viewfinder/LCD add-on that will let me monitor the DVX100A Squezed 16:9 as true 16:9 (with black bars and not stretched). I realise I'm gonna need som sort of optical add on - for both the viewfinder and the LCD monitor...

I know that you can get this for the SONY 150... But have not been able to find any solutions for the DVX100? Does it not exist? - It's quite essential to be able to do this when working with either Squeze mode or the Anamorphic linse... (have not decided which option I'll use yet).

Hope somebody here in this great forum has the answer...

Best regards

Re: 16:9 viewfinder solution???

I actually shoot almost exclusively in squeeze mode 24p "thin" settings. Of corse there are times when I will use other settings however, I use this setup about 90% of the time. In fact, I have found that using the thin setting and squeeze mode still maintain so much resolution that there are certain scenes where I still need to use a slight gausian blur so that I don't get the "flickering" effect from thin lines. That to me is just so dang impressive.

Re: 16:9 viewfinder solution???

OK it seems that there's no solution for monitoring a 16:9 image in the Panasonic LCD...

Does anyone know of a 16:9 high-res camera mountable batteri-driven LCD monitor. I'm looking for both the 16:9 feature as well as the higher resolution - making it easier for me to pull focus!

Re: 16:9 viewfinder solution???

Well, there are numerous hires 16:9 TFTs out there. A pretty good overview (since you're from Denmark) is on www.eucam.de following Video->Monitore (if you speak a little German. BTW I do NOT want to recommend this store).

But prepare to be whipped and chased naked through the forest. Uhmm. I guess that is a weird expression for: THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. THEY'LL SUCK YOUR BLOOD.

Re: 16:9 viewfinder solution???

I just wondered: Wouldn't it be INCREDIBLY cool if Panasonic would include a function that would compress the image vertically to create a letterboxed version on the screen from the anamorphic image? JUST on the screen of course, not on tape. Shouldn't be that difficult... *sigh*

Well, on the other hand we would have even less resolution in the viewfinder...

What a wicked world. :'(

Have you tried MID instead of Thin? I have recently read where this may produce more desireable results. Haven't tried myself though.
