16:9 to 4:3 help

Whats the easiest way to convert a 16:9 HD footage to 4:3 footage? Thanks

The easiest would be to crop or pillarbox

But you should be more specific on what your intended format goal is , because you would do things differently for say DVD vs. blu-ray or web

Sorry for not being specific. I will be using it for the web. I tried to open a new template picked one of the 4:3 and noticed when I crop the bars are still there. Am I doing something wrong or will I only notice it after I render it?

You have to be more specific yet :)

Is this for 16:9 display like youtube, or a custom website display?

For SD or HD?

If it's for 16:9 youtube, you would pillarbox it . e.g. the frame dimensions would be 848x480 but the active content would be 640x480 (104px borders on the left and right)

If it's a custom display, then you can crop and resize it to a square pixel 4:3 dimension (no borders) e.g. 640x480 for SD content (or any other frame dimension e.g. 1280x960)
