16:9 (squeeze) in a 4:3 timeline

I've got a timeline with 4:3 video but I want to insert some 16:9 (squeezed) into the mix. Im wondering what I need to do to make the DVD burn correctly. As in, not to show squeezed footage along with the 4:3. I want the squeezed stuff seen in letterbox form, like some of the 4:3 already is. (the 4:3 letterboxed stuff was copied from a VHS)

The DVD will be set up as a 4:3 DVD.

Any thoughts!? Thanks!

For each of the 16:9 stuff in the 4:3 sequence you'll need to adjust the scale and aspect to make sure it fits to the 4:3 space.

Depending on how it is imported and logged by FCP you may need to adjust both or just one of them.

Aspect is under the distort triangle of the Motions tab.

Good luck,

Are you saying it has to be done by eye? Geez...

I imported the squeezed stuff as anamorphic. Do I have to reimport it as 4:3?

Where's the majic filter button when you need it.

No -- there are numbers... aspect is -33 I think.

You'll figure it out. Kind of easy. SOMETIMES FCP just brings it in no problem. Letterbox's it just right for you. Odd how sometimes it does and sometimes not.

What if I used a anamorphic lens adapter, and I use this method (distort method), will I lose any resolution? I have my footage in 4:3 because I'm using Final Cut Express and I don't believe that you can capture in 16:9. Maybe I'm wrong. I used the anamorphic adapter because I knew that I wanted to have it for widescreen viewing. Will this method allow this, or will there be black even on the sides?

if this is the case then...Last question for the best and brightest:
If I'm using Final Cut Express and I have footage captured already in 4:3 is there a 16:9 conversion method other then distorting? ( this may already be the same question)
