16:9 project to DVD to play on WS and FS

Hey gang,

I've been using the search function to find some answers, but most involve shooting with the DVX in letterbox or squeeze mode...

I have some footage shot in native 16:9 on an XL2. I imported into PP1.5 on a 16:9 timeline.

I have very little experience burning projects to DVD. In the past I've burned a Widescreen version and a separate Fullscreen version.

I thought maybe this time I'd be able to burn in ONE format, such that if a viewer had a WS television it would appear in WS and if the viewer had a regular TV it would appear letterbox.

I did a test burn exporting at 16:9 and tried it on my regular TV and the left and right edges were chopped off (terrible for title screens!).

Is there a way for me to make a WS version that will work on a regular TV as well? I've got to get this project done in the next few days - delivery for Monday!

Thanks for the help.

If you encode to DVD using your widescreen settings, 720x480, 1.2 pixel aspect ratio. You will create a DVD that will display correctly on a widescreen television, and will be letterboxed on a 4x3 television. If you've done this and your video is not being displayed correctly, this could be an issue with your DVD player settings. Make sure it's setup for a 4x3 display.
