16:9 Footage shot knowing it's going to 4:3

Hey all, i'm shooting some video footage this week w an HD camera (JVC) in 720p at 16:9. But on the monitor I will tape over the 16:9 area so I can only see 4:3 as I will only want the end version in 4:3. So my question is do I load up an HD 16:9 project in Premier and then click the Crop effect and sort of wing it to create a 4:3 video? (don't see 4:3 HD options in premier, hence i can only choose 16:9 i think) Want to be sure when I export I don't have black bars on the left and right and instead just have a regular old 4:3 HD video if that makes sense. (tried searching for 4:3 here and just via the premier forum and still had issues as it was too broad of a search so very sorry if this has been posted 100x times.)

thank you in advance

Even though there's no HD 4:3 standard, you can still create a custom sequence with whatever dimensions you want (just make sure to use something like I-frame Mpeg instead DVCPro for previews). In the new sequence window at the top are tabs...you want to click on "Settings" and then in the "Editing mode" drop down go to the top and select "Custom". Now set a square pixel aspect ratio, and enter in the resolution dimensions.

So you'd put in a resolution of 960x720, and then when you put your 720p footage in, the sides will go outside of the frame essentially cropping it. Then you can slide the frame side to side to easily reframe the shot. I've done something like this but for 2.4:1 instead of 4:3. The one thing I recommend is always keep your dimensions even...I used dimensions of 1280x533 and H264 got angry at me so I had to fudge it to 534. :P
