15mm rods?

where can i buy 15mm stainless steel rods so I can cut them to my own sizes? (not rods meant for adapters just ones that will work for adapters that wont be over 100)

try your local hardware store. Thats where i got mine. Or maby a kite shop. They probably don't have stainless steel. But i think they will have 15mm in carbon.

ive never seen 15mm in hardware stores and Ive loocked all seem to be a little to large ot a little to small, and at 15mm a little can be way to much

Job may be in europe. Metric is common there, or his tolerances may not be critical.

I actually work at a hardware store. I checked the order catalogues and everything we dont stock any metric. Would home depot?

Correct. I live in the Netherlands. I guess we have it here because we measure in centimers. And it was exactly 15mm. I know how much 1mm means with rods. It has to be exact.

JOB keep in mind I a psychic, so take what I say to heart, I since that you will soon, be making a trip to yoour local hardware store, 2 of these rods between 32 and 40 inches long and mailing them to me in the united states.

the spirits have spoken, no since arguing with them!!!

Nope. Home Depot, Lowe's, and probably 99% of metal suppliers in the US aren't going to carry it. They'll either have 1/2" or 5/8" which would only work if you were making your own rail system.

Just buy em a litte bigger and have your favourite machine shop lathe em down to 15mm.

Takes the guy at the lathe about 5 minutes - I got it done here in a little local shop for a beer and a song.

Cool idea, I did a cursory search of kite store sites, it seems like a good idea, but the only sites that have 15mm tubes are in europe. Back to square one. At least w/ CF the shipping is cheaper...

I purchased a towel bar from Ikea that had a "15 mm" diameter for about $10. I tried it out but it was too thick. Pretty dang close though. You could try shaving them down or something but that was too much work for me...

I used to work across the street from an Ikea and spent a lot of time wandering the halls testing everything. I only found one thing that will work.

The base rod from this works:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00119909

It's hollow aluminum, and has a slit down the middle, but also has an interior bracing wall. Hard to describe, but it works and I use it. I bought a 36" and cut it in half.

Test before you buy, it's been a couple of years and the product might have changed.

It's a lot of "packaging" for a metal rod, and I felt guilty for tossing it out - but oh well.
