$1500 to spend!

So I have a pretty important short film that I'll be starting in the next couple months and I'm going to be picking up some new equipment for my dvx100b. First on the list is a 35mm and I'm leaning toward the M2, though I'm extremely indecisive and there are just too many options out there. The next thing I'm looking at is some support. I like to do a lot of handheld stuff but I want to keep things relatively smooth. Doesn't have to be like water, but obviously I'd like to avoid making a home movie.

I was looking at the multirig, but I'm worried that won't be able to support my camera with the adapter on it. And as you can see, I'm on a somewhat limited budget. Anyone have suggestions? Or should I nix the support for now and get something else?

It will.

If you're going to be loading up the camera with adapters, mics, lights, etc... I'd highly recommend the multirig. The support pod can take some serious weight and you'll never feel it in your arms or back. I would never handhold with that much stuff on your camera. Definitely look into it.

Thanks for the advice, all. Flowpod is very tempting but I think for the kind of stuff I'll be doing, Multirig is the way to go now that I know it can support all the goods.

You'll hear from me in Nov, Danny. :)

Please be aware that a shoulder support is not a stabiliser. I use a shoulder support for all my handheld shots.

What kind of shoulder support do you use ncje? I need some sort of shoulder supportage for smooth movement and whatnot.

Spiderbrace from what I hear is a good cheaper option. Although its probably possible with rails and a 35 mm adapter but not easy to sort out I imagine (speculating a bit here).

So right now I'm about ready to buy something. I can't really wait much longer since everything has a waiting period anyway and I would like to start shooting test stuff by Thanksgiving. I've decided on picking up a flowpod and, perhaps, a spiderbrace just for good measure (multirig instead if I come into a bit more money somehow). Does anyone have experience with this with the added weight of a 35mm adapter?

And speaking of adapters, as I'm sure people aren't sick of hearing about, I'm still at an impasse. I'm really leaning toward the Brevis now but I'm worried about the cost. I can't really imagine using this without rails and, unless I'm mistaken, this will cost another $200+, making it more expensive than the M2 to get the same equipment (as the M2 bundles come with rails). Or am I wrong here? I'd think there'd be a reason for the Brevis to cost the same as the M2 only without rails. And right now I'm so strapped for cash that I may go against my gut purchase just to save a couple hundred in the long run.

In other words, I'm stuck. Lend me your wisdom, O Mighty DVXUsers.
