15 or whatever FPS

I need to know if there is a "easy" way to create a 15 fps clip from a 30 fps? Or 10 fps, etc. It is horrible to zoom in all the way, make 30 cuts for every second of video and start deleting every other one.

Thoughts?

If you delete half of the frames then your clip will only be half as long ... unless you double the length of all of the leftover frames, so just right click on the clip, change the speed to 200% and you will get the same result without all of the work.

But truly making a 30fps clip into a 15fps clip would not mean removing half of the frames, but rather increasing the duration of each single frame. I think it would be easiest to just render the clip out (losslessly if you plan on re-encoding it later) to a 15fps movie.

Thanks for the reply John. When I get home, I'll be trying the two things you suggested.
If it is stretched to 200%, will that give me like a smooth slo-mo? I don't want that. I wanted the "choppy" look for a clip.

Will the export at 15 frames do the same as the 200% thing? Both interesting, easy to explore ideas. I hadn't thought of that because of the slo-mo thing. I'll see.

Also, I may want to try other numbers of fps.

hmmm ... now where's the end of this work day? Oh ... there it is .... waaaaaay over there.

Larry,

Speeding the clip up to 200% will make it go faster. For slow motion you would need to slow it down to something like 50 or 60%. Either way, it will not make it particularly choppy unless you slow it way down.

Ya, if you want choppy then render it out to 10 or 15 fps in the export settings of whatever codec you choose in Adobe Media Encoder.

Cheers :)
