Looks like I'm an early adopter, lol! Just ordered the new GITUP GIT2P (the P is for Panasonic seeing as they are using a Panasonic sensor). I think this has been on their site for a whopping 3 days or something. Hahahaha!

If you haven't heard of GITUP (their GIT2)....take a look around. For the cost and features, they're pretty solid. I've been pretty impressed.

At least this one will shoot 2160 video at 24p. Interesting!

Ya! I thought you might dig that. :) I noticed that was a deal break for you on the ThiEye T5e....unless that was someone else, lol! Without seeing the footy yet, there's no way of knowing how it will act with the Panny sensor. Obviously, that's the risk that I have taken on....and that's fine. The footy on the T5e looked super impressive to me (for the price), but no external mic (even if the on-board mic is getting great reports), and the Gyro on this looks mighty impressive indeed (...IF...it's like the prior version, lol...which is NOT a given). Anywho...combine that with no fisheye and I just had to pull the trigger. :D

OH...DUH! ....and something else for everyone that I forgot to mention. GITUP has shown a very nice pattern of providing firmware updates to improve their product. The GIT2 got up to firmware 1.6. They added some nice little features and that was very late in the game (for its product lifecycle).

Here's a timelapse that isn't too shabby. Take away that Fisheye, add some resolution....and it's pretty exciting for $130 bucks.

Here's a link to their forum that has the firmware (just for perspective on the type of commitment that they've shown for their products and users in the past). They aren't perfect or anything like that...but hopefully this helps folks have perspective.

Again, just for perspective on Firmware of their last cam.

Latest and stable firmware, version number is "GIT2_V1.6_20161028", released on 28th Oct 2016.

A negative thing to know about GITUP cams (and I'm sure that there are many):

No homegrown camera app. Supposedly (according to their forum) they are BETA testing right now (for iOS and Android separately). But for now, it's a third party app...and reports are that it blows chunks. So...there's that to consider as well.

The manufacturer posted these over on DashcamTalk. These could be to the upcoming GIT3 (or 4 for that matter). So...I'm not sure if my cam will have these features...aaaaand who knows what the second feature is??? (That looks like a Dual Cam 1080P + 1080P camera????) :) Interesting! Maybe it's 2 cams and you can picture in picture monitor on one of the two cams???? Anywho...just sharing for fun/more info.

I wouldn't call this 4k...

You are right. That's why the title says "4KHD" ....that's different from 4K (no sarcasm) It's also called QuadHD sometimes. Again...not 4K. Yep...true statement. In the first post, I linked to a document that has all kinds of resolutions. It captures at smaller than 4KHD...but outputs at 4KHD. Kinda weird....I said that in the first post as well. So, YEP! NOT 4K. 4KHD.

QuadHD is 2650x1440 or 720p x 4. "4kHD" is the same as "UHD" 3840x2160. This is some non-standard rectangular pixel resolution where vertical resolution is slashed.

It is being output at 3840x2160...exactly 4KHD. It is being captured at some weird resolution about 2880x2160. Output standard, capture is non-standard. Yep.

Actually....I need to correct something here. The chart I was checking said that the resolution you said was QuadHD (that you said was UHD)....so maybe I'm wrong. I'll double check. Thanks for that.

CONFIRMED as you said. QuadHD = 2650x1440. That's my bad. Thanks for that! :D

UPDATED FIRST POST with correct info as well. Thanks again!
Hahaha! And lastly...yes, 4KHD=UHD=Title of the thread is still correct. (...as far as output is concerned)

I'll do this instead. Yep...non Standard. Captured at 2880 x 2160 -> Output at 3840 x 2160. :) Whatever you call that...that is what it is. :D
