12V battery hook up to monitor?

Has anyone made a DIY battery to monitor hook up? I have a flashlight 12v rechargeable and want to hook it up to my monitor. I know I have to get a female coupling to the carlighter hook-up for my monitor. Any other tips?

I regularly use 12V acid sealed bateries, the same used in telephone centrals and computer's UPS in my 7" LCD field monitor (a cheap one)

Just solder the propper connector and hoock to to your monitor's dc 12v input.

One 12v 5 AH battery serves 8 hours or more.

I went to A battery store and had a custom 4000 mah battery made for this, its a lot lighter then the battery shown above and a lot smaller.

The one from the 1,000,000 candlewatt light is small and comes with a charge input. I just need to get the necessary parts to make it work (I hope).

how much did you spend webdog?
I purchased a tekkeon mp3400 battery for $150 or so, and the damn thing powers my monitor for something like 6-8hrs. Pretty nice if you ask me. and it has the ability to power the camera, my laptop, and other devices if I need it to. Pretty nice if you ask me. and it looks very polished.

I have a slight problem with my 12V battery - er...it is only 6V - false advertising. So now I am on a quest to find a 12V 3Amp battery - any suggestions?

Thanks, but waaaaay to high priced ($100+ for one of the models $54+ for another). I was hoping to do this on the DIY cheap. Any other ideas? BTW, that gadget does look amazing.

you can always get the tekkeon mp3300 for $85

But it doesn't provide as much power and it wont go to 19v.

But for $120

you get 40% more power and some laptops require 19v. (again for 120 I power my 7" lcd for 6-8hrs. that is always turned on with a moving picture. If I turn it off between takes it should last a whole 12-16hr day)

I tried rc car batteries, but just didn't last long enough.
The other option is to get two of those batteries you have and put them together. I can't remember exactly but there are two ways of combining the batteries.
parallel and ________(can't remember how they call it)

but I think what you do is plug the + of battery one to - of battery two. and then the + of battery two to your unit and - of battery one to your unit. this should add the two 6volts to add up to 12v.
Please double check this. But worst case senario if I have it worng is you are only sending 6 volts which wont harm your unit. (if you do it the other way, it doesn't add the voltage, it only adds the lenght of time you can power your unit)

Hope this helps.

update: also look into batteries for power tools. Like a drill. they have 12v. batteries.

I think it is the amperage I am worried about. I found an old 12V battery/power driller. The problem is the amp is only 1.5A - now the monitor is 3A, I wonder if this would still work?

No, in Canada - but thanks for the kind offer. I am going to have to find an electrician and see if 1.5A is enough to run this thing...

with a charger it came to about $100.
I have been able to run my screen for about 8 hours on it.
