can i speed up the footage in Sony Vegas ?? i know how to speed it up but i can't seem to get the right speed.

HELP !!!

i recorded 720/24pn 12fps. my footage is a little slow of course but i wonder if i can speed it up to where it seems normal in vegas. just curious. i know that i'll never do this again. my footage is from a concert....

If you recorded 12 fps at 24pN, it should play back twice as fast. Shouldn't be slow.

Right-click/Properties/Playback Rate. Enter your frame rate divided by 24 to get to normal speed.

wow, i never knew that. sorry david, i shouldn't have said slow. everytime the people move i see "ghosts". it almost looks like slow motion. my first encounter with frame rates or maybe it was the OIS.

thanks for your help

If you dragged out the clip, you probably didn't hit a precise increment, so the footage is interpolated between frames, causing the ghosting. If you enter 0.500 in the playback rate, it should be right.

one more curious question. i notice the audio was un-sync'd when i tried what you said.

any answers ?

You need to do the audio separately. Ungroup the audio, and ctrl-stretch the audio to the same length as the video track. Of course it will sound funny.

Wait a second was this with the HVX or HPX? If you recorded 12fps over 24pn I don't think there should be any audio.....

i really appreciate the help. i usually shoot straight out the box and fix things in post.

maybe it was the shutter speed i was messing with. there was a "1/12" in the viewfinder.

holy toledo batman, i think i meant shutter speed all the time, not fps !!!

A similar question....
Via Properties (as David described) it max's out at 400% faster. Is there a way to make it even faster?

A combination of changing the playback speed manually and ctrl-click to drag out the clip will get you a total of 12x faster. After that, if you want faster, render it out as fast as you can make it, then repeat the process on the rendered file.
