1280x720 VS. 1920x1080 for a 5-inch Field Monitor?

I'm looking at the new Atomos V VS. the Small HD Focus 5 to use with an A7S2. How much of a difference will the higher resolution display make a difference on a 5-inch display when shooting 4K and 1080p? Any other thoughts on the pros/cons between these two displays?

Thanks.

From using a lower resolution monitor to using a BMD Video Assist (5 inch), there is a clear difference to me. May also depend on what you can send from the camera, scaling 1080 down to 720 may or may not look good depending on the technology used to get there. If it was me, I'd try to chose the higher resolution display technology (the actual dots the panel can reproduce). But like many things, you may need to let your money decide.

I will mainly use it for composition and to ensure focus. Do you think the higher resolution helps with getting better focus? Besides visually looking better, how does the higher resolution help when shooting?

Thanks.

Also, any idea if being able to record to the Atomos with less compression and a better color space results in much better quality?

Maybe just me but I have the smallhd 502 and I still can’t perfectly tell if I’m in focus unless my face is inches from the screen (and I roll focus ring back and forth a few times). Even with glasses. I got a 702 (7”) when it was on sale for half price at B&H.

I have the Focus and use it every day. It's been a very good monitor and is very light. Really worth it for the latter. But the big disadvantage of the lower resolution is when you pinch magnify to check focus. The image really breaks up when you zoom in. A true HD monitor would be better in this respect.
