Nice. For whatever reason, that dude's story [Aron Ralston] REALLY intrigued me. I think I watched every interview he ever gave, read his book, etc.
I'm not sure if the trailer here fits the personality of the real guy, but hopefully that's just hollywood editing trying to make this appeal to the masses. The film itself should be much darker and slower paced.
Can't wait for this. Danny Boyle is one of my favorite directors, and I think I've liked every single one of his movies. The trailer is kind of meh, but I'm confident the film will be great.
I think this guys story is such a awesome display of human spirit and the will to survive. Der.
He also probably has the biggest pair of balls we've ever seen.
On a liner note; I recently had two of my fingers pinned by a 600 LB door. Crushed, no homeowners home, no cell phone within reach, my tools laying off too far to grab.
As gnarly as it sounds, I thought, if I could only reach my tin snips, I could cut my fingers loose (Off).
After about 5 Minutes of the most gnarly pain I've ever felt, and the ensuing rush of adrenaline and endorphins kicking in, I spotted a garden tool just within arms reach.
I prided the door and track off my fingers.
And yes, this is a true story.
My point was, it actually crossed my mind to cut my fingers off to get loose.
Am I the only one that recognized many shots in there as looking very DSLRish in their presentation? I think there is a lot of 5D footage in that trailer...for some reason. It just strikes me that way in many places. There's also some nasty CA in some of those shots...which makes me think even more that it's some form of small HD camera. The quality of the footage at 1080p although compressed well for Apple Trailers shows it's original source quality flaws...
sure... but, it doesn't really bother me in this context... It's not trying to be a big budget, purty thing... It's coming across as raw and gritty, which would seem appropriate for the material...
Danny Boyle and Anthony Dodd Mantle both have lots of experience with SI2K mini's (since SlumDog), which are about the same size as a DSLR or smaller (not counting the laptop). Most likely it was a SI-2K mini 2/3" chip camera with some pretty saturation increase and lens filtration. Plus, he rents his SI-2k's from the camera house I keep my cooke panchros at. They mentioned something to me about Danny Boyle's latest film... so I assume this was it.
SI-2k's are cool little cams once you get to really know them. They are very different from the rest. RED is just now catching up with their technology regarding camera control via monitor. Touch screen interfaces rule.
