Finished reading that article about the PS3...it's chip will be able to support 120fps...why on earth would you want that many freaking frames?

The human eye cant even process that many in a second.....oh boy....Sony is gearing wayy to much up for the future....

Some folks beg to differ...

"we can perceive up to and over 60 fps" link

...and don't forget robots. What if they wanna play some PS3 at 120fps?

Let us not forget that some TV's have over 100Hz refresh rates. Not so much about the human eye being able to perceive each and every frame, but about it being able to have enough info going into it to average out the motion for itself. The real world doesn't work in fps, so the more the better.

On top of this as the framerates for a console go up, so does the response time of the game. The higher the refresh rate, the fast your charcacter will respond to your control. 120fps is very desirable indeed.

Typical Sony, give people what they don't need. Great innovators, but poor practical thinkers. This sounds like a proprietary format.

Living in the 'States, you are and have been surrounded by "120fps" images all your life. All those lights running at 60Hz...2 zero-crossings per cycle.
