Hey Peeps!
I've been watching this market for a while: Cheap 4K Action cameras. The Xiaomi Yi 2 was pretty exciting to me. The footy looks pretty good and for Black Friday, it dipped to just under $200 USD. I dang near bought one. It seems that it's only a matter of time before someone in the market produces something nearly as good for about half the price? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has watched footy from some super crappy "4K" camera that is uprezzed garbage that's just plain hard to look at.
Enter ThiEye T5e. It's over saturated and over sharpened...but for $120 USD (from China Warehouse) it's looking super tempting to me. I'm thinking about replacing the lens with a non-fisheye and using it for my kids events for multi-camera shooting or maybe crashcam...for that price, it's not that big of a deal. Maybe someone else here will feel the same way? Either way....mad love to DVXUsers everywhere!
UPDATE: One other thing....there's not a single post on the entire forum for "ThiEye" as a brand. They have other stuff out there...nothing too impressive. I was a little tempted by the i60e for $63, but that footy was a little hard to swallow, lol! Anywho. We'll see if anyone else has had any exposure to the T5e. Cheers!
UPDATE 2: Oh ya...and the sound on this thing is actually some of the best out there for an action cam. They're all really crappy, but for anything thinking of using it as a "pocket vlog cam"....maybe this will help distinguish it from other competitors.
