10mm lens under f/2?!

Hahahaha! I don't think they know what they are talking about.

Film shoot wants a 10mm and 20mm photography lens for an M2 with a minimum aperture of 2.0! Call me crazy but isn't that a very rare if non existent lens? I think I've seen one once, and it was $8,000. Not sure if Craigslist is the best place to hunt down $8k lenses.

There is the f/2.8 5mm lens!

But I don't think they are going to find a 10mm f/2.... remember they want 35mm not 2/3" which is different.

Hah. I love the emphasis on "NO STUDENTS"...they're going to have a hell of a time finding professionals that will jump on that description :)

Uhhh, you can get a 10mm Zeiss Ultra Prime at T2, or a Ziess Standard Speed (basically pre ultra prime) at T2.1, or a 12mm Cooke S4 prime at T2.

The only question is how much they want to spend on the rental...because these lenses ain't cheap.

Yes....that was the one. The ultra speed is the one I remember seeing. I don't know how much it is.... but it is alot! I assumed they were talking about photography lenses, although they never specified.... which is a really important detail.

I hope it works out for them.

Your less expensive lenses will be like a fisheye.... but the $11,000 (price used) 10mm Zeiss Superspeed has almost all of the really noticeable distortion brought down to reasonable distortion.

Think about Wes Anderson. He sometimes goes as low as a Panavision 25mm anamorphic, which has a 25mm spherical vertical field of view, but approx. a 12mm horizontal field of view. The picture does have a slight distortion which is characteristic of many of Wes's films, but it's not FISHEYE.

The 10mm lens mentioned earlier will not distort like a fisheye would but will have distortion in the edges. And did I mention it is a rare $11,000 (used) lens? I doubt the expensive/rare motion picture zeiss ss 10mm, a 20mm and a 35mm would fetch a day rate of $100. Haha. Plus they never mentioned what mount they are using. The point of my thread was to point out that they had ridiculous standards and idiosyncratic discrepancies.

Making fun of CL ads is what gets me through the days I don't have work.

:)

EDIT: They decided to actually mention what kind of mount they have and come back to reality.

Now they simply want a 24mm and 35mm f/2. Much better odds now.

Sounds like they really dont know what they are talking about hah. You could rent a nikon 17-35 2.8 and probably round out to the same price as renting 2 wide angle lenses that are as fast as 2. Cant really think of much need for an f/2 as long as its a controlled set.
